About Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers and Nagpur Regional Centre.

Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers(IIChE) was established in 1947 by a few pioneers led by founder president late Dr. Hiralal Roy. It is the professional body of the chemical engineers in India, devoted to the advancement of chemical engineering education, research and profession. Its headquarters is in Kolkata. There are more than 50 regional centres of IIChE. The institute is represented by bodies like AICTE, All India Board of Undergraduate Studies of Engg. and Tech. The Expert Advisory Committee by Ministry of Indian Education, Bureau of Indian Standards (Chemical Division), The Institute of Applied Manpower Research, Department of Science and Technology.

 

The Nagpur Regional Centre (IIChE-NRC) was started in 1985 with Late Dr. G. D. Nageshwar as founder Chairman and Dr. G. K. Ghosal as the founder Hon. Secretary. The centre has organized various activities like technical lectures, plant visits, seminar, quizzes, etc during the last 31 years.

 

IIChE Students' Chapter, VNIT was established on 17th January 2013, works under the IIChE Nagpur Regional Centre. Since its formation, the chapter has been successful in conducting several competitions such as poster presentations, quizzes etc. Every year the chapter also publishes the half yearly newsletter CNapse and organizes national conference CHEMIX since 2014.
